SMCH starts normal functioning, 206 patients examined on Friday, said Himanta

April 24: Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) started functioning for all patients from Friday onwards. On the 1st day of reopening, 206 patients were examined by the doctors at SMCH, while 31 patients were admitted in different department. This was informed by State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press briefing at NHM Office in Guwahati on Friday afternoon.

Many of the hospitals of the state were converted to COVID-19 set up early during the month. Meanwhile MOU were signed with private hospitals for treating other patients. However, as the number of COVID-19 patients have not increased substantially in the state and 19 out of the 35 corona infected patients were discharged, so the state government has contemplated to restore normal functioning of the hospitals. The minister said that except MMCH, all other government hospitals is now again open for all types of patients.
