For the third time in CWG history, India reach men’s hockey final

Aug. 7: Indian team defeated South Africa 3-2 to enter the final of the men’s hockey event of the Commonwealth Games (CWG 2022). This is the third time that the Indian men’s hockey team will play the final of the Commonwealth Games.

World number five India was given a tough challenge by 13th-ranked South Africa for a full 60 minutes. South Africa defeated New Zealand in Pool A to reach the semi-finals. For India, who remained unbeaten in the league stage, Abhishek scored in the 20th minute, Mandeep Singh in the 28th and Jugraj Singh in the 58th minute.

India will face either Australia or England in the final on Monday. India won silver in the 2010 and 2014 editions of CWG.
