Unique Initiative: DC Cachar appeals Puja Committees to call SLRM centre for collecting vegetables & fruits waste, leaves etc

October 6: A special initiative under Swachh Sundor Silchar Project has been taken in hand by Cachar District Administration in collaboration with Silchar Municipal Board. On the day of Maha Saptami,176 Kgs Vegetables (waste) generated from various Durga Puja Pandals was collected and fed to cattle. In a social media post, DC Laya Madduri wrote, “We have got 99% Pure Vegetables + 1% Inorganic mixed, which was sent to our SLRM center.”

Subhojit Dutta Choudhury, SLRM Volunteer from BRTF Center  is the Officer in charge of this unique initiative. He is coordinating collection of all left out / unwanted portions of Vegetables, Fruit items, leaves etc. from all Durga Puja Pandals. These in turn will be taken to Silchar Goshala to feed the cattle.

In this connection, the Puja Committees were asked to call the Control Room or directly in the personal number of Subhojit Dutta Choudhury. The numbers are- Control Room No. 6003456058 and personal number of Mr. Dutta Choudhury- 7002891797.

In her post DC Cachar wrote, “We request all the Puja pandals within SMB area for disposing vegetable peel etc by contacting the above numbers or by locally tying up with cattle owners.” She requested all puja committees to cooperate in this unique initiative so that cleanliness can be maintained.
