DSA Silchar organises ‘Let’s go to the Field’ on National Youth Day

January 12: On the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, India celebrates National Youth Day across the country. A mighty spiritual personality, Swami Vivekananda is seen as a youth idol because of the relevance of his ideas and ideals to the youth even today. To commemorate the exploits of this charismatic monk, District Sports Association (DSA), Silchar organised a unique programme.

On Sunday, DSA organised a programme entitled, “চলো, মাঠে যাই” (Cholo Mathe Jai), which in English means “Let’s go to the FIeld.” This special programme was organised for the children, especially for those from 5 to 10 years. The programme began at 4.30 PM in the filed of DSA.

In a digital age, children of the cities and towns hardly spends time in playgrounds and rather remain confined within the four walls of the house entertaining themselves with mobile phones, video games, television sets, computers etc. Keeping this aspect in mind, DSA gave a clarion call to the parents to come to the field along with their children.

Responding to the call of DSA, large number of parents were present in the field along with their children. The little children were merrily playing in the big field to their heart’s content. Some were playing cricket, others were seen to kick football, while the rest were playing table tennis and many other such games.

The parents too were happy at this step adopted by the District Sports Association (DSA), Silchar and hoped that similar events will be organised in the near future also. Interestingly, many parents were also seen to participate in the various sports along with their children.
