1272 tests +ve in Assam on Sunday including 134 in Cachar, tally rises to 90,740

August 23: On Sunday, another 1272 persons tested positive in Assam. With this, the state tally has now gone upto 90,740, out of which, 22,854 are active cases. Cachar district registered 134 new positive cases during the day. In a tweet, State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Alert ~ 1272 #COVID cases detected today out of 18435 tests done in last 24 hours Positivity Rate- 6.89% Kamrup M- 280; Cachar- 134.”

Further, 8 more persons died due to COVID-19 in Assam, thereby taking the state tally of death to 242.
