Foundation stone laid for development of Itkhola play ground by MLA Silchar

February 23: The Foundation stone laying ceremony of development of Itkhola play Ground (Football field of Itkhola Athletic Club) took place at Silchar Itkhola Play Ground. On Saturday, MLA Dilip Kumar Paul in presence of Laya Madduri, Deputy Commissioner Cachar and District Sports Officer Khanindra Mudoi laid the foundation stone of this project.

An amount of Rs. 20 lakh was sanctioned under the Chief Minister Samagra Gram Unnayan Yojna (CMSGUY) for the development of Itkhola play Ground. The Executive committee of Itkhola Athletic Club will be the executing agency of this project. Speaking during the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri said, “The Chief Minister Samagra Gram Unnayan Yojna is indeed great beneficial for developing the infrastructure for games and sports in Assam.” She added that a total of 12 places at Cachar district has been earmarked for the purpose of development under CMSGUY.

MLA Dilip Kumar Paul showered lavish praises on the achievements of the state government in general and the Chief Minister in particular. He informed the gathering that an amount of around Rs. 20 lakh each will be given to 506 playgrounds across the state for infrastructural development. Further, 30 stadiums across the state will also get a make over.

Also present during the foundation stone laying ceremony were veteran BJP leader and former Union minister Kabindra Purakayastha, BJP leader and eminent educationist Partha Sarathi Chanda, office bearers of Silchar DSA and tkhola Athletics Club.

Kabindra Purakayastha in his speech highlighted the positive attitude exhibited by the central and state government in the all round development of each and every region of India. He said that the Sarbananda Sonowal government have initiated various development projects in Barak Valley.
