Sukanta Majumdar replaces Dilip Ghosh as Chief of Bengal BJP

Sept 20: In a significant development, the BJP on Monday appointed party MP Sukanta Majumdar as its West Bengal unit president, replacing Dilip Ghosh. Majumdar is the Lok Sabha MP from Balurghat in the state. BJP leader Dilip Ghosh, formerly the state president of the party in West Bengal, has been appointed the National Vice-President of the BJP.

The decision to bring in a new West Bengal president is being seen as part of the BJP”s efforts to reinvigorate its organisation in the state amid desertions by a number of its leaders who have switched over to the ruling Trinamool Congress.
