78 +ve cases detected in Cachar on Saturday including 2 1-day-old babies

3 junior doctors tests COVID positive during the day

August 22: On Saturday, 75 new cases of novel coronavirus were reported from across Cachar district. During the day, 637 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which 53 tested positive, whereas, the rest 25 were detected positive in the RT-PCR Test. In the 1st slot of RT-PCR, 17 persons were detected positive, 5 positive in 2nd slot, 3 more positive in the 3rd slot and none from Cachar were found positive in the 4th slot). Out of those detected positive on Saturday includes 3 junior doctors of SMCH, 2 one-day old babies, 2 pregnant ladies. Further, 10 patients are now in critical stage at SMCH.

Accompanied by Dr. Abhijit Swami, Superintendent of SMCH and Dr. Vikash Shandilya, Deputy Superintendent . Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli on Saturday visited the COVID wards in Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) wearing PPE Kit. She interacted with many patients, asked about their health condition. She also interacted with the doctors and other staff on duty as well.

The 1st slot of RT-PCR Test Results confirmed 17 persons to be COVID-19 positive in Cachar district on Saturday. Two 1-day-old babies were detected positive during the day. One of the baby is from Katigorah, while the other is from Bhagatpur. A 38-year-old pregnant woman in near labour from Katigorah & presently admitted at SMCH was also found positive. Another 35-year-old pregnant lady in near labour from Satrakandi Part-2 in Sonai but presently at SMCH was detected positive.  A physician, Dr. Anowar Hussain (35) from SMCH tested positive and was learnt to be symptomatic.

Three persons with Influenza Like Illness (ILI) were tested COVID-19 positive on Saturday. They are a 38 years old male from Panchayat Road, 68-year-old male from 1st Link Road and 44 years old male from Dinonathpur. A 58-year-old male in pre-operative stage from Kaptanpur Part-13 tested positive. Another pre-operative patient, a 40 years old male from Rongpur was found positive. Apart from them, 3 more persons were included in the positive list whose source of being infected was not mentioned in the SRF. They are 62-year-old female from Tarani Road, 72-year-old male from Khasiyapatty in Itkhola and a 39 years old female from Rangirkhari.

In the 2nd slot of RT-PCR Test Results, 5 persons from Cachar tested positive. They are a 62-year-old man from Tulagram Part-II in Sonai, 28 years old female from Shivalik Park (ILI symptoms), 48-year male from Udharbond (SARI symptoms), 65 years old male from Kanakpur Part-II (SARI symptoms), 24 years old male from Roy Colony ad a 25-years-old male who came from North Tripura (SARI symptoms).

The 3rd slot contained particulars of 3 positive cases detected on Saturday. Out of them are 2 are doctors from SMCH. They are Dr. Jessmon Thomas (26) from Boy’s Hostel, SMCH and Dr. Arindam Gangully (27) from SMCH. The 3rd positive person in this slot is a 50-year-old female health worker also from SMCH.
