Congress urges EC to remove PM Modi’s picture from govt hoardings

March 13: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) moved the Election Commission demanding removal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photograph from government posters at public places, including petrol pumps, ahead of the Lok Sabha Polls, 2019. In a letter addressed to the Chief Electoral Officer of Assam, APCC requested to issue orders for the removal of existing Government Hoardings and Government Advertisement.

APCC stated that as the model code of conduct has come into force, so the present ‘care taker government’ remove all existing Government Hoardings/ Government advertisements, wall writings, posters etc. so that a free and fair election can be conducted in the state.

In this regard, they have sought the intervention of the Election Commission. They urged upon the EC to give necessary orders so that the said hoardings or advertisements is immediately removed.
