BJP burns effigy of Sushmita on Citizenship Bill issue

January 9: Congress and TMC staged a walk out from the Lok Sabha on Tuesday during the debate on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 was debated. The bill was passed by the Lower House with a thumping majority. However, Cachar BJP raised severe allegations upon Silchar MP Sushmita Dev for staging a walk out and not supporting the Bill. They argued that MP Dev has betrayed the trust of the people of Cachar who had voted her to power. This was said by Dipayan Chakraborty, President of Town Mandal Committee of Cachar BJP.

BJP burnt the effigy of MP Sushmita Dev at Devdoot Point Silchar on Wednesday. Mr. Daipayan further alleged Sushmita to have played dual role as regards the Citizenship Bill and castigated her in strong words. he further offered thanks to the JPC Members and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for keeping his promise of introducing the Bill in the Lok Sabha and getting it passed there.

Present during the effigy burning were BJP District President Kaushik Rai, Kanad purkayastha, kajal Roy and others.
