5,980 tests Covid-19 +ve in Assam on Saturday, 4,659 discharged & 79 deaths registered

Active cases 54,058 in Assam

May 22: On Saturday, out of 1,07,389 tests, 5,980 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 3,65,620. The positivity rate in the state is 5.57 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 902 positive cases during the day. Further, on Saturday, 79 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 2,667.

It needs mention here that on Friday, 6,066 persons tested positive in Assam and 81 deaths were registered.

On Saturday, 4,659 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 3,07,548 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged from various hospitals and Covid Care centres across the state. This was confirmed in a tweet by NHM, Assam. The recovery rate in the state is 84.12 percent. At present, there are 54,058 active cases in the state.

Further, during the day, 79 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 79 deceased, 19 are from Kamrup Metro; 09 from Kamrup Rural; 06 each from Barpeta & Sonitpur; 05 from Nagaon; 04 each from Cachar & Tinsukia; 03 from Nalbari; 02 each from Darrang, Dibrugarh, Hojai, Sivasagar & Udalguri; 01 each from Baksa, Biswanath, Charaideo, Chirang, Dhemaji, Goalpara, Golaghat, Jorhat, Kokhrajhar, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, South Salmara & West Karbianglong. The death tally of the state now stands at 2,667.
