ওয়ে টু বরাক, ২০ জানুয়ারি : উৎসাহ আর আবেগের ছোঁয়ায় সম্পন্ন হল আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ২৩ তম সমাবর্তনের দ্বিতীয় দিন। এদিন কলা ও বাণিজ্য শাখার বিভিন্ন বিষয়ে স্নাতক স্তরে কৃতিত্বপূর্ণ ফলাফলের জন্য মোট ১৭ জন শিক্ষার্থীকে স্বর্ণপদকে ভূষিত করা হয়। পাশাপাশি চারজনকে অনুদানভিত্তিক পুরস্কার ও সম্মাননা প্রদান করা হয়। সব মিলিয়ে এদিন প্রায় ৩,৩০০ জন শিক্ষার্থীকে স্নাতক স্তরের আনুষ্ঠানিক ডিগ্রি প্রদান করা হয়।

সমাবর্তনের দ্বিতীয় দিনের প্রধান অতিথি ছিলেন অশোক লিল্যান্ডের সিনিয়র ভাইস প্রেসিডেন্ট কৃষ্ণন সদাগোপন। তিনি স্নাতক উত্তীর্ণদের উদ্দেশে বলেন, পেশাগত জীবনে টেকসই শক্তির ব্যবহার এবং প্রকৃতি ও সংস্কৃতির মধ্যে সমন্বয় খুঁজে নেওয়া অত্যন্ত জরুরি। তিনি এও বলেন, প্রতিটি পেশাই মর্যাদাপূর্ণ, তবে দলগত কাজ ও আত্মনির্ভরশীলতা জীবনের দুটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভিত্তি হওয়া উচিত। কৃত্রিম বুদ্ধিমত্তা প্রসঙ্গে তিনি উল্লেখ করেন, এটি জ্ঞান অর্জনের একটি শক্তিশালী মাধ্যম হলেও তা কখনও প্রজ্ঞা দিতে পারে না। তাই এআই ব্যবহারের ক্ষেত্রে শিক্ষার্থীদের অতিরিক্ত নির্ভরশীল না হওয়ারও শলা দেন তিনি।

অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তব্য রাখতে গিয়ে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের আচার্য তথা অবসরপ্রাপ্ত এয়ার চিফ মার্শাল অরূপ রাহা জীবনে চরিত্র, সংহতি, শৃঙ্খলা, নৈতিকতা ও সততার ওপর গুরুত্ব আরোপ করেন। তিনি এও বলেন, শিক্ষা শুধুমাত্র জ্ঞান অর্জনের মধ্যেই সীমাবদ্ধ নয়, সত্যিকার অর্থে ভালো মানুষ হওয়াই এর অন্তর্নিহিত শক্তি। পাশাপাশি তিনি শিক্ষার্থীদের দেশ ও সমাজের জন্য কাজ করে যাওয়ারও পরামর্শ দেন।

উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক রাজীব মোহন পন্থ বলেন, শিক্ষা কেবল জ্ঞান অর্জনের মধ্যেই সীমাবদ্ধ নয়, বরং তা চরিত্রের রূপান্তর ও বিকাশের সঙ্গে ওতপ্রোতভাবে জড়িত। তিনি বলেন, আজ সমগ্র বিশ্ব ভারতের দিকে তাকিয়ে আছে। আর অন্যতম কারণ যুবশক্তি। এই যুবশক্তির ওপর ভিত্তি করেই ভারত বিকশিত ভারতের লক্ষ্যে এগিয়ে চলেছে।

এদিন অন্যদের মধ্যে মঞ্চে ছিলেন ডিফু ক্যাম্পাসের সহ-উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক শিবাশিস বিশ্বাস, নিবন্ধক প্রদোষ কিরণ নাথ, পরীক্ষা নিয়ন্ত্রক সুপ্রবীর দত্তরায় সহ বিভিন্ন স্কুলের ডিনরা। প্রসঙ্গত, তিনদিনের ২৩ তম সমাবর্তন শেষ হচ্ছে বুধবার। এদিন প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত থাকবেন ভারতীয় সেনাবাহিনীর প্রাক্তন প্রধান মনোজ মুকুন্দ নারাভানে।

Way2barak, January 20 : The second day of Assam University’s 23rd Convocation concluded amid enthusiasm and emotion. On the occasion, a total of 17 undergraduate students from the Arts and Commerce streams were awarded gold medals for outstanding academic performance. In addition, four students received endowment awards. Altogether, around 3,300 students were formally conferred undergraduate degrees on the day.

The chief guest of the second day was Krishnan Sadagopan, Senior Vice President of Ashok Leyland. Addressing the graduates, he emphasized the importance of using sustainable energy in professional life and finding harmony between nature and culture. He noted that while every profession is dignified, teamwork and self-reliance should be two fundamental pillars of life. Speaking on artificial intelligence, he remarked that although AI is a powerful tool for acquiring knowledge, it can never provide wisdom, and advised students not to become overly dependent on its use.

Chancellor and former Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, in his address, stressed the values of character, unity, discipline, ethics, and integrity in life. He said that education is not limited to the acquisition of knowledge alone; its true strength lies in becoming a good human being. He also encouraged students to continue working for the nation and society.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajive Mohan Pant stated that education is not confined to gaining knowledge but is closely linked to the transformation and development of character. He told that the world today is looking towards India, largely because of its youth power, and that India is progressing towards the goal of a developed nation on the strength of this youthful energy.

Among others present on the dais were Diphu Campus Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Shivashis Biswas, Registrar Pradosh Kiran Nath, Controller of Examinations Suprabir Dutta Roy, and deans of various schools. The three-day 23rd Convocation will conclude on Wednesday, with former Indian Army Chief Manoj Mukund Naravane attending as the chief guest.
