Assam Unit joins OPS stir at Jantar Mantar
পুরনো পেনশন স্কিমের আন্দোলনে দিল্লি কাঁপাল আসাম ইউনিটও

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ২৬ নভেম্বর : নির্বাচিত জনপ্রতিনিধিদের জন্য নিশ্চিত পেনশনের ব্যবস্থা থাকলেও সরকারি কর্মচারীদের বেলায় অনিশ্চিত পেনশন ব্যবস্থা কেন? এটা কর্মচারীদের সঙ্গে বিশ্বাসঘাতকতা ও প্রতারণা নয়তো কী? মঙ্গলবার নতুন দিল্লির যন্তরমন্তরে পেনশন নীতি নিয়ে এই বৈষম্যের প্রতিবাদে গর্জে উঠলেন সরকারি কর্মচারীরা। আওয়াজ উঠলো, ‘নো এনপিএস, নো ইউপিএস, অনলি অপিএস’।

ন্যাশনাল মুভমেন্ট ফর ওল্ড পেনশন স্কিমের ব্যানারে আয়োজিত এই বিক্ষোভ কর্মসূচিতে দেশের বিভিন্ন প্রান্তের প্রতিনিধিরা অংশ নেন। আসাম থেকেও ৯ জনের এক প্রতিনিধি দল এই কর্মসূচিতে শামিল হন। অংশ নেন আসাম প্রান্তের উপদেষ্টা কানু ধর, সভাপতি ভবানন্দ বরা, সাধারণ সম্পাদক মুকুল কুমার দাস, সদস্য মরফত আলি, ভাস্করজ্যোতি মেধি, জাকির হোসেন, নজরুল ইসলাম, মনোজ কুমার ডেকারাজা ও আজিজুল হক।

বিক্ষোভ কর্মসূচিতে জাতীয় পেনশন স্কিম কিংবা ইউনিফায়েড পেনশন স্কিম প্রত্যাহার করে পুরনো পেনশন স্কিম পুনরায় চালু করার জোরালো দাবি জানানো হয়। অন্যথায় আগামীতে আরও বৃহত্তর আন্দোলন সংগঠিত করার হুঁশিয়ারি দেওয়া হয়। প্রসঙ্গত, আসাম প্রান্তের উপদেষ্টা কানু ধর আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে পুরনো পেনশন স্কিমের আওতাধীন কর্মী হলেও সরকারের এই বিমাতৃসুলভ আচরণের প্রতিবাদে শুরু থেকেই সোচ্চার রয়েছেন।

Way2barak, November 26 : While elected public representatives are assured of a guaranteed pension, why are government employees subjected to an uncertain pension system? Is this not betrayal and deception against the employees? On Tuesday, government employees raised these questions and roared in protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, condemning this discrimination in pension policy. Their slogan echoed: “No NPS, No UPS, Only OPS.”

Representatives from various parts of the country participated in this protest programme organised under the banner of the National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS). A nine-member delegation from Assam also joined the event. The Assam team included State Advisor Kanu Dhar, President Bhabananda Bora, General Secretary Mukul Kumar Das, and members Morfat Ali, Bhaskarjyoti Medhi, Zakir Hussain, Nazrul Islam, Manoj Kumar Dekaraja, and Azizul Haque.

During the protest, strong demands were made to scrap the National Pension System (NPS) or Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) and to reinstate the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). The protesters warned that if their demands are not met, a larger movement will be organised in the future. Notably, Assam State Advisor Kanu Dhar, although he is covered under the Old Pension Scheme at Assam University, has been vocal from the very beginning against what he calls the government’s discriminatory attitude.
