November 14: PAAVAN, a new social organisation which came into existence recently stood besides the poor and deprived section of the society. On Thursday, the members of PAAVAN donated clothes at Ghoongur Kalibari. The cloth donation event organised by PAAVAN was sponsored by Team 99 of Life Insurance Corporation of India Limited (LICI).
A huge crowd was noticed waiting in queue for their turn to receive clothes. Both male and female along with children were distributed new clothes free of cost. Even some differently-able persons were handed over clothes by PAAVAN. A total of 250 beneficiaries belonging to the marginalized class were distributed clothes.
Speaking to way2barak, one of the beneficiaries, a middle-aged lady said, “We are extremely glad to receive such good clothes. Infact, they have given to my daughter also. I pray to God to bless the donors.”
The clothes were distributed on behalf of PAAVAN by Arundhati Dutta Choudhury, Anusakha Chakraborty, Dr. Sumita Bose and Pallavi Biswas.
Later on, while interacting with our correspondent, Arundhati Dutta Choudhury co-founder of PAAVAN said, “We are indeed glad to be able to stand besides the poor and needy. We have formed PAAVAN to do something beneficial for the marginalised sections of the society. I along with Anusakha Chakraborty founded this organisation. In fact, when we sat to finalise the name of our organisation, we were six members by that time. So we decided to keep a name out of the first six alphabets of our names. The six members are Priya, Arundhati, Anusakha, Vijoyeta, Anindita and Namrata.”
Mrs. Dutta Choudhury further said that they have many more plans to work upon, which they would seek to implement in the near future. She also expressed her thanks to Team 99 of LICI for sponsoring the cloth distribution event.
