Yaba tablet and Ganja seized, two arrested in Mizoram
way2barak, Oct 11: In a series of successful operations on 10 October, Assam Rifles recovered large quantities of contraband in Mizoram.
In the first operation, Assam Rifles personnel, in coordination with Mizoram Police, seized 10,000 Methamphetamine tablets worth approximately Rs 3 crore at the Lawngtlai-Bungtlang Road junction in Lawngtlai district. Two individuals were apprehended in connection with the drug haul. Acting on specific intelligence, the operation was swiftly executed to neutralize the threat. The suspects and the contraband were handed over to Bungtlang Police Station for further investigation.
In Champhai district, Assam Rifles, along with the Excise & Narcotics Department, carried out two separate operations leading to the seizure of Marijuana and Indian currency valued at Rs 95.44 lakh. In the first operation in the Zote area, 7.36 kg of Marijuana worth Rs 5.44 lakh was recovered, and a local man, Rangzangena (33), was arrested. The second operation in Vengsang led to the arrest of a Myanmar national, Thanpmanglian (38), and the recovery of Rs 90 lakh in Indian currency. Both individuals and the seized items were handed over to Excise & Narcotics, Champhai, for legal action.
