Weeklong Seva Saptah to be observed in Cachar from September 17

way2barak, September 17: The Government of Assam has announced that Seva Saptah will be observed from September 17 to 23, 2025, coinciding with the 75th birthday of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. The week-long programme, themed “Seva-hi-Samarpan”, will emphasise service-oriented initiatives focusing on public welfare, health, education, social empowerment and community development. Cachar district has lined up a series of significant activities under this state-wide campaign.

 

On September 17, ten Voluntary Blood Donation Camps will be organised across Cachar by the Assam State Blood Transfusion Council in collaboration with SMCH, S.M. Dev Civil Hospital, private blood centres and voluntary organisations. NSS, NYK, Barak Valley Blood Donor Forum and educational institutions are set to play an active role in donor mobilisation.

 

The following day, September 18, Cachar will host the first of seven Mega Health Camps at BNMP HS School, Dholai. These camps will provide screening, referral and treatment for 59 childhood diseases for children up to 18 years of age. Specialist doctors from SMCH will lead the initiative, which will continue across constituencies with an aim to benefit more than 5,000 children statewide.

 

On September 19, a major plantation drive is scheduled across 1,000 educational institutions in Cachar, where 75 saplings will be planted in each campus.

 

September 20 will witness young authors of Cachar participating in the “Youth Writers’ Honour” scheme. Under this initiative, 1,000 emerging writers from across Assam will be awarded financial assistance of Rs. 25,000 each.

 

On September 22, nutritional support will be extended to 700 identified TB patients in Cachar under the Ni-kshay Mitra initiative of Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

 

The final day of the observance, September 25, will mark the rollout of Orunodoi 3.0 across all 1,575 polling stations of Cachar district. LPG subsidy forms will be collected from 1,83,008 beneficiaries during the launch.

 

Alongside these initiatives, the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan” (from September 17 to October 2, 2025) will also be implemented in Cachar. This scheme will offer free health screening services for women and adolescents at SMCH, SMDCH, CHCs, PHCs, Sub-Centres and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, in addition to private hospitals.

 

Health officials said the Seva-hi-Samarpan, Seva Saptah reaffirms the Government’s commitment to inclusive growth and social welfare, reflecting the spirit of service and dedication to the people of Assam.
