Wearing PPE kit, Himanta again visits COVID Ward, holds review meeting
July 18: A few days ago, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hit the national news headlines by entering the COVID-19 ward at Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) by wearing PPE kit. The pictures of the minister dressed in PPE kit soon went viral on social media. On Saturday again, Himanta Biswa Sarma put on the PPE Kit for the 2nd time and set inside COVID-19 Ward and ICU at Jorhat Medical College & Hospital (JMCH).

In a tweet, the health minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Wearing PPE Kit, I visited #COVID19 ward & ICU at Jorhat Medical College & Hospital. Glad to share that most of the patients are doing well, and recovering. Many patients in ICU too are recuperating. Trying times for families but rest assured our team of doctors are doing best.”
To review present situation of #COVID19 as well as compliance of containment measures in Jorhat, held a meeting with Principal (JMCH) and District Administration Officials including DC & SP.

Later on during the day, Himanta Biswa Sarma also held a review meeting with the Principal of Jorhat Medical College & Hospital (JMCH) and district administration including the Deputy Commissioner and Police Super of Jorhat. He reviewed the present situation of COVID-19 as well as compliance of containment measures in Jorhat.
