We are considering relaxing lockdown rules from 7 June: Himanta Biswa Sarma
June 3:Given the improving Covid scenario, we are considering relaxing lockdown rules from 7 June. This was stated by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, while addressing the media on Thursday in Delhi. He further said, “Although we had a target of going for the unlock phase from 15 June, but since yesterday, the daily positive cases in Guwahati has come below 300, which is otherwise a good sign for easing restrictions. If by Friday or Saturday, the daily numbers fall below 200, then relaxation in lockdown rules cam be expected.” However, the Chief Minister did not specify the nature of relaxations which would be provided from 7 June.
Meanwhile, when daily coronavirus cases in Guwahati is decreasing, the numbers seem to be on the higher side in many other districts of Assam like Dibrugarh, Cachar. The Assam government has now decided to intensify the vaccination drive in the state. Himanta BiswaSarma stated that Assam will receive 19 lakhs vaccine in the month of June and that 30-35 lakhs vaccines will be received by the state in July.
