Water levels of all major rivers in Barak Valley rising
May 13: Due to incessant rainfall since the last few days, the water level of all major rivers in Barak Valley started to increase.
As per report received from Central Water Commission, water level of Barak at Annapurna Ghat, Silchar at 7 PM on Friday was at 18.91 metre. The danger level at this point is 19.83 metre. The water level was rising by 7 to 8 cm per hour and may cross the danger level, if it goes on increasing at this rate. This was informed by District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Cachar.
Apart from river Barak at Annapurna Ghat, its level at Badarpurghat was also increasing.On Friday evening, the water level of river Barak at Badarpurghat was recorded at 15.56 metre. The danger level at this point is 16.85 metre. As per DDMA, Karimganj, the water level here was going up.
Similarly, Kushiyara river at Lime Factory, Karimganj was flowing at 13.98 metre. The danger level here is 14.94 metre. The water level of Longai river at Chandkhira PWD Bridge was recorded at 20.00 mt on Friday evening, where the danger level is 22.00mt. Singla river at Anipur PWD Bridge was found to flow at 16.95 mt, where the danger level is 17.95 mt. Singla was flowing above the danger level.
