Re-evaluated result will be final even if the marks become less

July 8: In a notification issued by Dr. Suprabir Dutta Roy, Controller of Examinations, Assam University, Silchar, new guidelines were devised for students of TDC under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) pattern of study. The notification issued on 8 July, 2019 stated that students now willing to go in for re-evaluation will now have to apply online for this purpose. The link for online submission of re-check and re-evaluation form for First Semester TDC (CBCS), 2019 will be opened from 9 July, 2019 and will be closed on 20 July, 2019.

Interested students were asked to login to https://ausexamination.ac.in by clicking STUDENTS LOGIN by using Registration No as user ID and password as was created at the time of registration process. The students are required to take printout of filled in application and the payment receipt and submit to the concerned college along with the original Grade Card. Further, the colleges were asked to complete verification of Re-evaluation form and approve the same within 23 July, 2019.

The terms and conditions for Re-Evaluation is as below:

1. The Payment of Re-Check (Scrutiny)/Re-evaluation fees will be through payment gateway (Grade Card fee @ Rs. 50/-, Re-evaluation fee @ Rs. 200/- per paper, Re-Check (Scrutiny) fee @ Rs. 100/- per paper).

2. The facility of Re-evaluation/ Re-Check (Scrutiny) is not applicable to practical examination papers.

3. Re-Check (Scrutiny) of Answer Scripts of theory papers of any ESE is permissible for a maximum of 3 papers per semester for those candidates who have obtained Grade(s) in the concerned paper(s) above 3.5 but less 5.6.

4. The score after re-evaluation shall supersede the earlier score i.e. the re-evaluated result is final even if he/she becomes Fail/Pass after re-evaluation.

Expressing his reaction to this notification, Sudarshan Gupta, a member of the CBCS Implementation Committee of Assam University and former President of ACTA Cachar Zone said that a meeting in this regard was held on 5 July 2019. There was a threadbare discussion on a gamut of points. However, Mr. Gupta mentioned that, “Point No.3 of the terms and conditions for re-evaluation was not faithfully recorded by the Controller of Examinations (COE). In the said meeting, it was unanimously suggested by all the members that students can go for Re-Check (Scrutiny) of Answer Scripts of theory papers of any ESE without any bar of marks/grades obtained in the concerned paper. Though the original CBCS Regulations contained the clause of scoring above 3.5 but less than 5.6. for becoming eligible for re-evaluation, but the CBCS Implementation Committee opined in favour of allowing re-check for candidates with any score/grade.”

He categorically said that the College Teachers’ Association will definitely take up this issue with the university authorities and demand that whatever resolutions are adopted in the meetings should be exactly reflected in the notifications issued thereafter. Gupta further said, “If such a state of affairs of changing the resolutions of a meeting are allowed to happen, then there remains no necessity of convening any meeting on any vital issue. We will discuss this issue with our ACTA zonal committee of Karimganj-Hailakandi and see to it that the interest of the students are never compromised.”
