TMP sets condition for reopening Bangladesh office in Agartala

way2barak, Dec 23: Tipra Motha founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma said that the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Tripura’s capital, Agartala, would not be allowed to reopen unless attacks on Hindus and other minorities, and anti-India statements in the neighbouring country stopped.
Reacting to the suspension of all visa and consular services by the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission, he said on Tuesday that India was capable of responding firmly to threats issued to Indian diplomatic missions in Bangladesh.
Addressing the people of Tripura and members of his party’s youth wing, Mr. Debbarma said that national interest must take precedence over party politics, and called for unity in the face of external challenges.
“The Bangladesh mission in Agartala will not be allowed to resume operations unless the attacks on minorities in Bangladesh, especially the Hindus, end and also hostile statements against India. They are also threatening to occupy the northeast,” Mr. Debbarma said.
