Ticket aspirant dies of heart attack after denied ticket at Kalain
November 19: Rabij Uddin Barbhuiya was elected for three consecutive terms as a Congress Ward Member from Bhairabpur GP under Kalain block in Cachar. He was very eager to contest Panchayat election for the 4th consecutive term. However, his aspiration to contest the polls was shattered when the Congress party denied him the ticket this time.
On getting the information from the party office, Rabij was shocked as because he was confident of getting the ticket. As per the people of his locality, unable to bear the shock, he died after suffering a massive cardiac arrest on November 17. The locals were very much angry at this incident and severely criticised the Congress for denying ticket to a party loyalist who stood besides the party since last 3 decades.
It needs mention here that he Panchayat polls in Assam will be held in two phases on December 5 and December 9 in 26 districts and 14 civil sub-divisions. The counting will take place on December 12.
