way2barak, Nov.26: Inner Wheel Club (IWC), Silchar on Saturday donated a pad vending machine and incinerator in the Girls’ Common Room of Radhamadhab College, Silchar. During the day, the members of IWC Silchar were felicitated by the college fraternity. In her welcome speech, Dr Ashima Roy, Vice Principal of the College thanked Inner Wheel Club, Silchar for being generous enough in donating a pad vending machine and incinerator for the female students. The inaugural ceremony was coordinated by Arundhati Dutta Choudhury, Head, Department of English.

Speaking during the ceremony, Sampa Banik, President of Inner Wheel Club, Silchar said, “We are happy to be here at Radhamadhab College. As part of our humanitarian activities and keeping with the aims and objects of the Club, we are happy to donate a pad vending machine and incinerator for the female students of the college.”

On the rules of hygiene, Sampa banik said, “A sanitary pad is meant to absorb blood, vaginal mucus and other materials that your body discards during periods. This may give you an idea of how hygienic or unhygienic it could be if you aren’t able to change your pad for long. Changing your pad every 3 or 4 hours (more if your period is heavy) is good hygiene and helps prevent bad odors. This is especially true if you’ll be playing sports or rushing around from class to class. Changing pads often also helps prevent accidental leaks.”

As regards the incinerator, she said, “The Sanitary Napkin Incinerator disposes napkins in an environment friendly method by burning the pads and converting it into ash. HLL Sanitary Napkin Incinerator is designed to ensure easy and safe disposal of napkins.” The IWC members also demonstrated the use of sanitary pad vending machine and incinerator.

During the day, the members of Inner Wheel Club, Silchar also planted saplings in the college campus. Apart from the President, also present were Anindita Pal- District Secretary, Jhumki Saha- Vice President of IWC Silchar, Madhuparna Basak- Secretary and Moumita Gupta- Treasurer.
