Surprise inspection: Some more grocery shops at National Highway market closed for charging high rate

July 8: It has been the tendency of many traders to hike prices during any natural calamity. Inspite of repeated appeal made by the district administration, there are some scrupulous elements who escalate the prices of commodities, thereby taxing the already burdened consumers. Cachar district administration has deputed officers all throughout Silchar to check the prices of goods sold by the traders in different markets of the town.

On Friday, during such surprise inspection carried on by the district administration of various markets and shops, it was detected that some traders were charging exorbitant prices of various commodities. Immediate strict action was taken against such erring traders. As a result, some Grocery Shops at National Highway market were closed down by District Administration for charging higher prices and not following guidelines.

It needs mention here that on earlier some shops like Nandans at Premtola, shops in Ambicapatty, N.S Avenue, Rangirkhari, Das Colony and SMCH Road areas were also closed down for charging escalated prices.
