Surprise check by Magistrates for not wearing masks at Janiganj, Nazirpatty & Goldighi Mall
July 23: Inspite of repeated appeal by the district administration, people at Silchar are often found to violate COVID-19 protocol. The district administration had already notified earlier that for non-wearing of masks, a fine of Rs.500 shall be levied. During his recent visit to Silchar, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Pijush Hazarika directed the administration to ruthlessly implement the wearing of masks and social distancing and to raise the levy of fines to Rs.1,000. “It is only through wearing of masks and social distancing that we can arrest the further spread of COVID-19 pandemic. And towards this end, the civil and police administrations have to ruthlessly enforce it,” added the minister.
On Thursday, fine amounting to Rs 6000 approximately was collected from individuals from Janiganj area, Goldighi mall and Nazirpatty area for non-wearing of masks and violating COVID 19 protocol etc. The district administration informed that surprise checks by magistrates will be carried out anywhere and anytime to see whether all COVID-19 protocol including social distancing and wearing of mask properly are being strictly followed or not.
Further, fine amounting to Rs 5500 approximately was also collected from individuals from Lakhipur and Fulertal bazaar area for non-wearing of masks and violating COVID 19 protocol etc.
