Storm damages several houses across Cachar, tarpaulin handed over to storm affected families

April 15: Heavy rains accompanied by storm swept through almost every part of Cachar district during the last 2 to 3 days, leaving many houses damaged in the rural areas. Several houses corn pletely flattened by the storm apart from uprooting trees and electricity poles. Most of the houses were destroyed by huge trees that were uprooted in the storm.

A few people sustained injuries, however, none of the injuries were serious. Telephone and power lines were down in most rural areas of the district. Sonai, Lakhipur, Katogorah were the most affected. Tarpaulin were handed over to the storm affected families under Lakhipur Revenue circle whose houses were damaged by the storm in presence of Circle Officer Sir Lakhipur and other staff of Circle.

Tarpaulin were also handed over to the storm affected families under Silchar Sadar Revenue circle whose houses were severely/ fully damaged by the storm that occurred in early morning of Friday. During the day,  tarpaulin were also handed over to those under Katigorah revenue circle whose houses was severely damaged by the storm.
