Spike in corona cases: DC Cachar visits SMCH, makes provision for more Covid beds
May 23: With the spike in Covid-19 positive cases in Cachar district, Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli on Saturday went to Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) to review the Covid preparedness. In the last two days, Cachar district registered 932 fresh cases (630 on Saturday & 302 on Sunday). At present, there are 2,444 active cases in the district, out of which, 280 of them are admitted at SMCH.
The Deputy Commissioner during her visit to SMCH directed the hospital authorities to make arrangements of more Covid beds at SMCH due to increasing load of Covid cases across the Barak Valley. It needs mention here that SMCH caters to the treatment of patients not only from Cachar, but also from the neighbouring districts of Hailakandi and Karimganj.
