Special Gram Sabha at Kagui Luang Naga Colony

way2barak, Aug 16:— Adding a new dimension to the 79th Independence Day celebrations, the Silchar Municipal Corporation convened a Special Gram Sabha at Kagui Luang Naga Colony on Saturday under the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The event, was part of the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh observance commemorating the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the legendary tribal freedom fighter and symbol of resistance.

The Gram Sabha turned into a meaningful platform where the ideals of Independence were seamlessly linked with the vision of empowerment for tribal communities. Villagers, elders, youth, women representatives, and officials participated with enthusiasm, reflecting a strong spirit of unity and collective resolve.

The central objective of the Sabha was to create mass awareness about the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan and to mobilise grassroots participation for drafting the Tribal Village Vision 2030. The agenda included three core areas of discussion, awareness on the campaign, mobilisation of villagers, and preparation of a Village Action Plan to address local priorities such as education, healthcare, livelihood, infrastructure, and cultural preservation.

Speakers at the meeting highlighted that the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan is designed to cover one lakh tribal villages across the nation, uniting communities under a shared roadmap of progress. The campaign emphasizes identification and enrolment of Adi Karmayogi Changemakers, local champions who would drive bottom-up development. The Sabha also deliberated on the establishment of Adi Sewa Kendras, which will serve as hubs for delivering essential services and for strengthening community participation.

The vision document under preparation, Tribal Village Vision 2030, aims to foster people-led governance while placing tribal aspirations at the centre of policy implementation. The initiative reflects the government’s determination to enable tribal households to design their own pathways of progress, reinforcing the principle that development is most sustainable when it is community-driven.

The atmosphere at Kagui Luang Naga Colony was charged with patriotic fervour as participants echoed the theme “From Independence to Tribal Empowerment , Village by Village.” The Sabha concluded with a collective pledge from the community to work in close partnership with the government, ensuring that the benefits of schemes and services reach every household and that the legacy of Birsa Munda continues to inspire generations.

Officials present at the programme reiterated that such Sabhas are not only symbolic of community participation but also critical to shaping a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous future for tribal populations. The success of the Silchar Gram Sabha is expected to set an example for similar initiatives across Barak Valley and beyond, demonstrating how Independence celebrations can be transformed into platforms of empowerment and progress.

This is stated in a press release issued by the Regional Office of Information & Public Relations Barak valley Zone Silchar Assam.
