Special Force Set to Take Over Security of Ram Temple
way2barak, Sept 19 : The Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UPSSF) is all set to take over the security of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The state government has sanctioned posts of five commandants, five deputy commandants, 25 assistant commandants, 219 platoon commanders, 853 head constables, 3,219 constellations, 340 constable drivers and others to ensure complete security at the Ram Temple. Against the total posts sanctioned so far, the first contingent of 270 UPSSF personnel has reached the temple town.
Officials with the UP Police, however, said the date of formal takeover of the security from the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), which so far used to guard the Ram Temple, is yet to be finalised.
Once the new security system is in place, the UPSSF will be deployed in the red zone of the Ram Temple complex. “The security force has already reached Ayodhya. UPSSF, one of the elite forces in which cops from the PAC and state police have been deployed, would guard around 108 acres of area that is defined as ‘red zone’. The CRPF will be stationed in the isolation zone where Ram Lalla has been installed,” a senior official with UP Police said.
Officials said that in the initial days of the posting, the UPSSF contingent will undergo special training in which they will be taught about behaviour management apart from being briefed about the temple’s security system. “The security personnel will also be trained to handle the expected crowd of pilgrims,” an official said.
Besides the UPSSF, a contingent of the CRPF would remain deployed, whereas the PAC will be gradually withdrawn.
The UPSSF, trained to handle security at religious places, has been raised along the lines of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and trained by the CRPF, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and CISF.
Gaurav Dayal, divisional commissioner, Ayodhya said that ADG security, ADG zone, Lucknow, and other top police officials held a meeting that was aimed at ways to ensure complete safety of the Ram Janmbhoomi and its surrounding area. Also, the officials discussed the implementation of the new security system.
The deployment of the UPSSF and the implementation of the new security system is being done on the directions of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath who recently visited Ayodhya to review the ongoing progress of Ram Temple development works and had ordered deployment of special security forces to guard the temple. Also, he stressed upon having a foolproof security management plan at the Ram Temple.
