Silchar girl Ankita achieves big in the world of animation in Mumbai

May 28: Silchar or for that purpose the entire Barak Valley is a land full of talents in multifarious walks of life. Many persons of this valley have achieved big in various parts of this globe. The latest addition to this list of talented persons from this southernmost part of Assam is Ankita Roy Bari. She has carved a niche for herself in the city of dreams-Mumbai.

Ankita has worked as an Animation Production Manager in the recently launched animated movie ‘Chhota Bheem Kung Fu Dhamaka’. Chhota Bheem Kung Fu Dhamaka is an Indian animated film based on the characters Chhota Bheem and his friends.The film has been distributed by Yash Raj Films and in two different languages Hindi & English in 2D & 3D version. The film has been released for the international audience and has already started achieving accolades from not only cine lovers, but from the film critics as well.

Ankita Roy Bari works with Golden Robot, an extension of Green Gold animations which is one of the giants in the animation world. Speaking to way2barak, Ankita said, “Working in golden robot animation gave me good recognition and I am glad they considered me for this position and the huge responsibility to make this mega film. I had worked in other companies before joining this and finally all my experiences counted and I got this opportunity to be a part of this mega film.”

A student of Holy Cross School, Silchar, Ankita did her Higher Secondary from Ramanuj Gupta Junior College and then completed graduation in animation and design from ICAT College in Chennai. In a candid conversation with way2barak, Ankita said, “I always wanted to be in a creative field & cartoons always fascinated me. So I decided to tread on this unconventional arena. After graduation, I shifted my base to Mumbai in search of greener pastures. But as it is said that life is not a bed of roses, so I had to struggle hard for a real break in Mumbai. Initially, I took up the job of a junior artist and step by step went ahead.”

Ankita is the daughter of Hiranmoy Roy and Dr. Ashima Roy of Radhamadhab Road, Silchar. Her father is an officer in the insurance sector and her mother is the Head of the Department of Political Science in Radhamadhab College, Silchar. Speaking about her family life, Ankita said, “I was the first in family to choose this completely new path. Many suggested to take up other courses and moving to Chennai at an early stage was more difficult to think. But I got my biggest support from my mother! She was the one who fought for me and encouraged me to follow my dreams. Though she wanted me to get into general academics but she understood my passion for this and supported wholeheartedly. She was my driving force at my initial time. My father too was excited for this new thing but nervous at the same time as staying away from home made my family restless.”

She still yearns to be in her hometown Silchar and be amidst her family along with her parents and relatives. But creativity being her first love, Ankita has no other way but to stay in Mumbai to give wings to her thoughts. “Though I missed my family and specifically my sister (Archismita), as I was not there at home and I missed seeing her growing up day by day. But their love and support made me who I am now,” said Ankita in an emotion chocked voice.

After getting featured in the credit roll of one of the largest animation productions in India, Ankita hopes to scale new heights and work with more reputed brands like Dreamworks, Pixar &Warner Bros. Sharing her future plans, Ankita said, “These great studios also work with Indian companies and have their sister branches and I will be happy if I become a part of that. Currently I am not looking to go abroad but definitely waiting for a good break with production houses of international repute.

When asked about the career opportunities for the youth of Barak Valley in the field of animation, Ankita said, “Anyone who has vision and creativity can come in this field. Those who has interest in vfx and 3d content and are fan of vfx can try their luck and I can say that giving life to one’s favorite characters is amazing! Like who would not want to be a part of their superhero’s journey!”

Expressing his reaction at Ankita’s success, Ashish Kumar Roy, maternal uncle of Ankita said, “We all family members are very proud at her achievement. She is a girl of strong determination from her very childhood. We do hope and pray to the Almighty so that she may achieve more laurels in her career and continue to make us all feel proud.”

So those familiar with the insanely popular Chhota Bheem character know that the young lad and his pals—Chutki, Raju, Kalia, Dholu, Bholu, Jaggu, all denizens of Dholakpur, are good friends, who fall in and out of trouble, and spread non-stop enjoyment amongst their fans while they are at it.
