Silchar Congress meets DC & SP, place issues for redressal

May 31: A delegation of Silchar District Congress Committee (DCC), led by President Pradip Kumar Dey met with Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar and Manabendra Debroy, Superintendent of Police and placed before them several issues and urged for their redressal. The delegation placed the following issues before DC, Cachar:

  • To immediately take measures with DC of Jiribam (Manipur) so that the people of Jirighat (Cachar) may move to Jiribam for their daily necessities, banking etc. The authority of Jiribam and also the local people are not allowing the people of Cachar to enter Jiribam which has created a serious tension in Assam-Manipur border.
  • The delegation had placed before the DC the sudden price hike of essential commodities in Cachar and black marketing by certain scrupulous businessmen.
  • The delegation requested her to open Fatak Bazar wholesale market immediately to control the price hike without any delays.
  • The delegation also informed of the havoc played by annual flood which causes great damages. The delegation also pointed out  some serious flood affected areas of Cachar and sought the immediate intervention of the DC.

Later on, the President of Silchar DCC told newsmen that the Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing and assured them to look into the matters with top priority. The delegation then met SP Cachar and discussed the present scenario of the district where issues of theft and robbery have become a common matter. Pradip Kumar Dey informed that the SP gave full assurance of dealing the issue very seriously. Police Super also confessed that the allocation of police force in different quarantined centres has limited their strength. The delegation also assured SP of full cooperation from Congress to maintain peace, law and order situation in the district.

Apart from Pradip Kumar Dey, the delegation also comprised of Sanjeev  Roy, Secretary, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee,  Amitabha Sen, Vice President, Silchar DCC, Simanto Bhattacharjee and Abhijit Paul, GS of Silchar DCC.
