Seize ration cards of all ineligible beneficiaries, directs CM Assam
Fair price shops to be rationalised according to the number of ration card holders
June 26: Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma held a meeting with Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Dept, Cooperation Dept and Registrar of Cooperative Societies in presence of Minister Atul Bora and reviewed implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the State. During the meeting on Saturday, the Chief Minister directed food, civil supplies and consumer affairs department to seize the ration cards of the people who are not eligible for the benefits.

The following important decisions were taken in the meeting:
- To seize ration cards of all ineligible beneficiaries
- To amend rules to ensure Rs 143 per quintal of rice to every fair price shop as transportation charge
- Cooperative societies to play the role of supervisors to ensure proper implementation of NFSA
- Dept to be allocated funds to provide to all village panchayat cooperative societies
- To rationalise the number of fair price shops according to the number of ration card holders
