RAKTAMITRA’ Launched: Bharat Vikas Parishad Dakshin Silchar Branch to Build a Digital Registry of Voluntary Blood Donors

Way2barak, August 2 : In a pioneering initiative to reduce the hardship faced by patients and their families in finding blood during medical emergencies, the Dakshin Silchar Branch of Bharat Vikas Parishad has launched its first permanent public welfare project, RAKTAMITRA. The primary objective of RAKTAMITRA is to establish a reliable digital registry of voluntary blood donors, enabling quick identification and mobilization of suitable donors whenever blood is urgently required.

The project was inaugurated by the Branch President, Prof. Kingshuk Adhikari, who said that blood donation is not merely a social responsibility but a selfless commitment to humanity. “A single unit of blood can save a precious life. Every healthy citizen should come forward to register as a voluntary blood donor,” he remarked.
Branch Secretary Sankar Sarkar informed that donor information will be collected through Google Forms to create a modern digital database. The branch has set a target of enrolling at least 500 voluntary blood donors during the current financial year.

Branch Vice-President Dr. Darshana Patoa stated that the digital registry would, in future, serve as a rapid and dependable support system for patients, hospitals, and the general public whenever emergency blood is needed.
Vice-President Prof. Debatosh Chakraborty and Seva Pramukh Biswaraj Chakraborty described the initiative as a significant addition to the branch’s community service programmes.

Among those present were Siddhartha Shankar Chakraborty, Amlendu Dey, Shankar Biswas, Sudip Chakraborty, Dr. Biswaranjan Roy, Dr. Pranesh Debnath, and Sourav Dey.

Branch Vice-President Himadri Sekhar Das observed that a timely response from a registered blood donor can restore hope to a distressed family and save a valuable human life. Sankar Biswas appealed to people from all sections of society to join the RAKTAMITRA voluntary blood donor registry. Branch Treasurer Siddhartha Sankar Chakraborty urged citizens to participate in this noble humanitarian mission and strengthen society through the life-saving bond of blood donation.
