Poshan Maah to kickstart in Hailakandi district from Sept.10
Convergence meeting chalks out series of events
Sept.7: The Poshan Maah (Nutrition Month) will kickstart in Hailakandi district from September 10.
A convergence meeting on Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2020 was held with all the stakeholders at Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall here on Monday.
Chairing the meeting, District Social Welfare Officer, Jyotirmoy Daimary asked all the stakeholders to come up with a concrete action plan for observing the Poshan Maah in a befitting manner. Daimary asked the officials of the concerned departments to observe the nutrition month with gusto, as the observance has been already delayed due to the engagement of various stakeholders in COVID-19 related activities and the seven-day mourning following the demise of former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee.
After threadbare discussion, it was decided that identification and tracking of children with severe acute malnutrition (SAM) in the age group of six months to six years will be carried out in 181 Anganwadi centers. Anaemic Mashi covering 1,374 Aganwadi centers to reduce anemia among pregnant women, adolescent girls and lactating mothers will be observed together with Sathik Matri Dugdhapan Susvasthyaban Pran to promote breastfeeding, early initiation and exclusive breastfeeding.
It was also decided to observe Rog Niramaya Vhatika in 50 identified Anganwadi centres to promote the concept of kitchen garden at all Anganwadi centres and community land coupled with Sandhan ek Poshan Pratibha, an online essay competition on nutrition among 50 numbers of students covering all blocks on September 18. Moreover, another program lined up is Poshan Charcha, a digital poshan panchayat, involving the PRI members covering all the 62 Gaon Panchayats from September 10 to 28.
The attractive events of the Poshan Maah in the district will be amla-gur candy campaign to reduce anemia level; maa-beti mela to address issues faced by adolescent girls; dibbi adan pradan to promote practices of complimentary feeding; nukkad natak to create awareness about poshan abhiyaan among the community; cooking demonstration to inculcate nutritious food practices among different communities; amla and papaya saplings distribution to create awareness about the beneficial effects of these fruits before and after pregnancy; CBE and poshan rally to generate awareness on nutritional aspects and increase community participation. District Coordinator, Poshan Abhiyaan, Rajat Chakrabarty and officials of Social Welfare, Health and Family Welfare, Panchayat and Rural Development, Education, Agriculture, KVK, ASRLM, PHED and other line departments were present.
