3-day National Workshop on drama to be organised by Rotaract & Deptt. of Performing Arts in Assam University

August 19: A three-day National Workshop on drama will be organised by Rotaract Club in collaboration with Department of Performing Arts. This workshop on drama aims to engage the students to understand the techniques of theatre. The workshop will allow students to engage different elements of theatre.

The workshop on theatre will incorporate scene making, basics of acting, improvising the scene and presenting themselves on stage. Further this workshop is a creative process for better understanding of culture and it’s practice. The 3 day national workshop is open for all students of Assam University and it’s affiliated institutions.The intake capacity is only 35 students. The workshop will be organised at the Department of Performing Arts, Assam University, Silchar. The last date to register online for participating in the workshop is 21 August, 2019. Murali Basa, the Coordinator of the workshop said, “This workshop is to engage the students in a creative process of drama. It will explore the idea of stage presentation and management. Different theatre games by August Boal will be featured in the workshop. The students will get an enthralling experience through the process. On the last day, the students will present a collage of improvised scene during the process.”

Swapnoneel, the Joint Coordinator of the workshop said “It’s an opportunity for all the students to participate in such workshop where they can participate and learn about acting through practice. We hope this workshop will give us a chance to think in a creative manner for future works. Since we can accommodate limited member of students in the workshop,hope people will get a good benefit out of this. The Rotaract Club is thankful to the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dilip Chandra Nath and  Jagannath Barman, Head in-charge for accepting our proposal and allowing us to do this activity in the campus.”
