Over 2,000 people join Yoga Utsav at Lumding PVM, Organized by Niramaya

Way2barak, May 18 : As part of the countdown to the International Day of Yoga (IDY), a grand Yoga Utsav was organized by Silchar Niramaya School of Yoga Education at Pranabananda Vidyamandir (PVM), Lumding, witnessing the enthusiastic participation of more than 2,000 people of all age groups. The event was organized in collaboration with Pranabananda Vidyamandir and was officially recognized by the Yoga Certification Board, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and the Indian Yoga Association.
This nationwide initiative, led by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, aims to promote awareness about yoga and its immense benefits. The event at Lumding began with the ceremonial lighting of lamps accompanied by Vedic chanting, setting a spiritually uplifting tone for the day.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including: Swami Sadhanananda Maharaj, Chief Organizer, Bharat Sevashram Sangha (North-East India) Dr. Manabendra Dutta Choudhury, Vice-Chancellor, Rabindranath Tagore University, Hojai ,Shatakshi Bhattacharjee, Director, Niramaya, Divya Geetananda, Dr. M. Gangabhushan, Director, IKS, Assam University, Shekhar Chakraborty, Principal, Lumding PVM, Ashish Ghosh, Vice-Principal, Lumding PVM, Shibu Mishra, MLA, Lumding, Pradeep Seall, RSS representative

In his address, Swami Sadhanananda Maharaj emphasized the transformative power of yoga and expressed hope that such events would inspire people from all walks of life to embrace yogic practices. Dr. Manabendra Dutta Choudhury, who participated in a large-scale yoga session for the first time, shared that such gatherings foster deeper interest and discipline in yoga.
The Common Yoga Protocol session was conducted by renowned yoga expert Dr. Sunil Sharma, Academic Director of Niramaya, while the meditation session was led by Shatakshi Bhattacharjee. Several yoga teachers, including Sumita Bhattacharjee, Shubankar Saha, Rajesh Das, Samrat Majumder, and Ratul Chakraborty, also contributed to the successful execution of the session.

A panel discussion on “The Role of Yoga in Education, Wellness, and Holistic Wellbeing” was held during the event. Esteemed panelists included Dr. Sunil Sharma, Dr. M. Gangabhushan, Dr. Rabishwar Ghosh (Senior Medical Officer), and Dr. Suman Bharali (Ayurvedic Physician). The session was moderated by Dr. Tuhin Deshmukhya and Shatakshi Bhattacharjee.
The day-long celebration concluded with recitations from the Bhagavad Gita and vibrant cultural performances showcasing the rich traditions of Northeast India. Guests, participating schools, organizations, and yoga experts were honored for their valuable contributions to the success of the Yoga Utsav.
This event stands as a shining example of community spirit and the unifying power of yoga in promoting health, harmony, and holistic living.
