Nowgaon College declared as a state university

Jan. 15: Another premier college in Assam has been elevated as a state university. Nagaon College, in Assam was on Saturday declared as a state university. Assam Chief Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma made this announcement on Saturday. Taking to his twitter handle, CM Assam wrote, “Established in 1944, Nowgong College has given many bright minds to the state & the country. Humbled to be among the students, faculty & alumni of the prestigious institution while declaring it as a State University.”

Speaking during the occasion, the Chief Minister said, “We’re committed to fulfilling all infrastructural & academic needs of the institution in this regard. I urge all stakeholders to come up with suggestions on subjects & courses to be imparted and ways to make it a top notch university in the coming days.”
