Northeast’s 1st Child Cancer Hospital to come up at Dr B. Barooah Cancer Institute

Dec. 19: Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI) has earned the rare distinction of being selected by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) to facilitate Childhood Cancer Management. Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute is among the 11 centers from South East Asia Practice Network that was selected for starting a wing for treatment of Pediatric Cancer.

A seven storeyed building will be constructed at Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute for this purpose at an estimated cost of Rs 73.78 crore. As per reports, the project to be completed will take a period of around 4 years. Treatment of child oncology is lags behind in the northeastern region. Once completed, this would be the 1st Pediatric Cancer treatment centre in entire Northeastern region.
