8640 bottles of narcotics cough syrup recovered, one arrested

way2barak, 19 January: Based on a secret information Cachar Police has conducted a special operation against the illegal transportation of narcotics substances today at Digharkhal Toll Gate under the jurisdiction of Kalain Police Station. During the operation one Tata Di vehicle bearing Regd No-MZ 01Z-8256 coming from Guwahati and destined to Aizwal was intercepted and during thorough search 72 Nos cartoons containing 8640 bottles of codeine phosphate cough syrup bottles were recovered along with 2(two) KGs of suspected Ganja. The recovered narcotics substances were accordingly seized along with the vehicle used. In this connection one person namely Joylaldan Thanga(38yrs), Vill-Durtlang PS-Bawngkon Dist-Aizwal,Mizoram has been arrested. The price of the seized narcotics substance in the black market is about 1(one) crore. SP Cachar Numal Mahatta said, further investigation into has been on.
