Minister Parimal Suklabaidya ceremonially launched financial assistance of Flood Rehabilitation Grant in Hailakandi

Aug. 20: Assam Transport, Excise and Fisheries & Guardian Minister of Hailakandi on Saturday ceremonially launched the financial assistance of Rehabilitation Grant (flood) in the district to the flood affected people in an event which was held in Rabindra Bhawan.

Speaking during the event, the Minister said,”Assam Government under the leadership of Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has scripted history on August 20 by giving over Rs 119 crore rehabilitation grants to families whose houses were damaged by fully or partially during the recent devastating flood. In Hailakandi district, a total of 8,576 houses were affected”

Rs. 3,73,54,600 was disbursed among the flood victims by the minister during the day in Hailakandi
as compensation under the provisions of the SDRF. The beneficiaries will get the amount vide the DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) mode. Later on, the Minister also participated in the inauguration of the  Orunodoi Month celebration in Rabindra Bhawan.

In Hailakandi district, there are 91 fully damaged kutcha houses, 758 partially damaged houses pucca & 7,562 kutcha, 107 damaged & destroyed huts and 58 cattle shed attached with houses were damaged. A total of 8,576 houses were damaged in Hailakandi district.

The Rs 119-crore rehabilitation grants disbursed during the day will benefit over 2.04 lakh people in the state.
