Interactive Programme on heart care organised by Barak-Brahmaputra Friendship Mission

September 20: An interactive programme on heart care was organised on Friday at Ellora Heritage Hall by Barak-Brahmaputra Friendship Mission & Asom Sahitya Sabha in collaboration with Samanvay Andnritya Kala Mandir which was powered by Ellora Hotel, Silchar. Inaugurating the interactive programme, Swarnali Choudhury, Chief Coordinator of Brahmaputra-Barak Freindship Mission welcomed all the dignitaries.

On the dias were Senior Consultant Cardiologist Dr. Nirmal Kanti Bhattacharjee, Officer of the Department of Cultural Affairs Nawab Aram Hussain, Sitangshu Shekhar Das, Retd ACS and cultural activist Kiran Rash. Speaking during the occasion, the experts said that brisk walking, running, swimming, cycling, playing tennis and jumping rope. Heart-pumping aerobic exercise is the kind that doctors have in mind when they recommend at least 150 minutes per week of moderate activity.

However, another aspect which was emphasised was to stay happy being involved in cultural activities like dance and music. Lion Subhas Choudhury also made a brief power point presentation wherein he ably demonstrated the various functions of the heart and how to keep one;s heart safe from any attack.

A wide variety of dance forms were exhibited by artists belonging to various age groups. Folk dance, Bihu dance, dance form belonging to tea and agricultural communities were also exhibited.

Socio-cultural organisation ‘Saraswat’ showed a video as regards the health hazards occurring due to the radiation emerging from the smart mobiles we use now-a-days. It was then that a candid discussion was held on the topic. It was demonstrated how by the use of a particular device manufactured by Modicare can minimise the radiation of mobile phones. The device of the size of a memory card needs to be attached on the rear side of the mobile phone.

Speaking to way2barak, Swarnali Choudhury said, “The best way to keep one’s hear fit and fine is to stay happy by involving in various cultural activities. Music and dance have a healing power and can really keep a person fit and fine. She also thanked all present there in the heart care related programme.” She said that it’s indeed high  time and “Let’s Talk Heart.”
