Air India venture dismisses 4 senior executives over viral video

ওয়েটুবরাক, ২৮ জুনঃ আহমেদাবাদে এয়ার ইন্ডিয়ার বিমান দুর্ঘটনায় যথন গোটা বিশ্ব শোকস্তব্ধ, তথন খোদ এয়ার ইন্ডিয়ার গুরুগ্রামের দফতরে পার্টিতে মেতে উঠেছিলেন একাংশ অফিসার-কর্মী।  ডিজে বাজিয়ে উদ্দাম নাচছিলেন তাঁরা।

বিমানযাত্রীদের নিয়ে গভীর শোক আর উদ্বেগের সঙ্গে নানা চর্চার মধ্যেই ভাইরাল হয়ে পড়ে পার্টির ওই ভিডিয়ো। নিন্দার ঝড় ওঠে চারদিকে। এরই জেরে এয়ার ইন্ডিয়া স্যাটস (এআইএসএটিএস) পার্টিতে যোগদান করা চার সিনিয়র কর্মীকে পুরোপুরি অপসারিত করার সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়। তবে নোটিশ না ধরিয়ে প্রাথমিক পর্যায়ে তাদের ইস্তফা দিতে বলা হয়েছে।

কোন চারজনের ঘাড়ে শাস্তির খড়্গ নামল, এয়ার ইন্ডিয়া বা এআইএসএটিএস স্পষ্ট না করলেও বিভিন্ন সূত্রে তাঁদের দুজনের নাম জানা গিয়েছে।  তাঁরা হলেন এআইএসএটিএস-এর চিফ অপারেটিং অফিসার আব্রাহাম জাকারিয়া এবং বেঙ্গালুরু ইন্টারন্যাশনাল এয়ারপোর্ট লিমিটেডের জিএম সম্প্রীত কোটিয়ান।

ভিডিয়ো ভাইরাল হতেই সংস্থার তরফে বিবৃতি দিয়ে বলা হয়েছিল, ‘সোশাল মিডিয়ায় প্রচারিত একটি ভিডিয়ো সম্পর্কে আমরা অবগত হয়েছি, এটি দুর্ভাগ্যজনক। এর ফলে যে মানসিক অস্বস্তির সৃষ্টি হয়েছে, তার জন্য আমরা আন্তরিকভাবে দুঃখিত।’

কিন্তু তাতেও নেটিজেনদের ক্ষোভ দমেনি। বরং ওই বিবৃতির পর তির্যক মন্তব্যের মাত্রা বেড়ে যায়। পরে আরও একটি বিবৃতি দিয়ে বলা হয়, ‘এই আচরণ আমাদের মূল্যবোধের সঙ্গে সঙ্গতিপূর্ণ নয়। এই ঘটনার সঙ্গে দোষীদের বিরুদ্ধে কঠোর শাস্তিমূলক ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হচ্ছে।’  এর পরই শুক্রবার চারজনকে চাকরি থেকে অপসারণের এই সিদ্ধান্ত।

প্রসঙ্গত, এয়ার ইন্ডিয়া লিমিটেড এবং স্যাটস লিমিটেড সম-অংশীদারিত্বে গঠন করে এই এয়ার ইন্ডিয়া স্যাটস বা এআইএসএটিএস। মূলত, গেট সার্ভিস এবং খাবার সরবরাহের দায়িত্বই পালন করে এরা।

way2barak, June 28: Air India on Saturday dismissed four senior executives of AISATS, the ground-handling subsidiary associated with the airlines, after a video of an office party went viral on social media platforms.

The celebration reportedly took place at the company’s Gurugram office, just days after an Air India Ahmedabad-London flight crashed seconds after taking off, claiming 260 lives in total.

Multiple videos showed office staff celebrating and dancing on several Bollywood songs. The videos drew a sharp criticism online over the timing of the office party.

In response to the online criticism, AISATS terminated the senior personnel involved and issued warnings to several other employees.

AISATS operates as a 50-50 joint venture between Air India Ltd and SATS Ltd, a major provider of gateway services and food solutions.

Responding to the backlash, an AISATS spokesperson told, “we stand in solidarity with families affected by the tragic loss of AI 171 and deeply regret the lapse in judgment reflected in a recent internal video.”

“The behaviour does not align with our values, and firm disciplinary action has been taken against those responsible as we reaffirm our commitment to empathy, professionalism, and accountability,” the spokesperson added.
