Home quarantine no more to be allowed to patients with comorbidity: Himanta Biswa Sarma
June 4: In a significant decision, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday directed the health department not to allow home quarantine to COVID-19 patients of any age group with comorbidity. Such patients will be kept in institutional quarantine. The Chief Minister on Friday was chairing a meeting to take stock of the Covid-19 management in the state. The meeting was also attended by Health Minister Keshab Mahanta apart from several top officials of the state.
Taking to his twitter handle, the Chief Minister wrote, “To bring positivity and mortality rates further down, Covid patients of any age group with any comorbidity will be kept in institutional quarantine.” It needs mention here that during the 2nd wave of coronavirus, Assam witnessed a high mortality rate.

Further, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has instructed the health department to fix the rates for treatment of Covid-19 patients in the private hospitals of the state. The Chief Minister tweeted, “Issued instructions to fix the rates for #COVID19 treatment in private hospitals. Affordable rates have been fixed for both general & super-speciality wards. Also directed officials to ramp up the vaccination process to inoculate maximum people at the earliest.”
