Gurucharan College conducts XIth annual lecture on textual criticism

way2barak, February 10: The Department of English, Gurucharan College, Silchar, hosted its XIth annual lecture on Monday, featuring eminent academician Prof. Partha Sarathi Gupta from the Department of English, Tripura University, Agartala.
Delivering a lecture on “Text, Textuality and Textual Criticism,” Prof. Gupta explored the nuances of textual interpretation and the evolving methodologies in textual criticism. His insights shed light on the dynamic nature of literary studies and the importance of textual analysis in contemporary academia.
College principal Dr. Bibhas Deb commended the department for its consistent efforts in fostering academic engagement. Head of the Department, Dr. Panthopriyo Dhar, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the significance of the annual lecture series as a platform for students and scholars to engage with contemporary literary discourses.
The event also saw the release of the department’s journal, ‘Literaria’. Faculty members Santanu Swaroop Roy, Mehdi Hasan Chowdhury, Rimpi Sonowal and Sreshtha Kar were present, along with students and literature enthusiasts who actively participated in the session.
