Gauhati High Court directs Ranjan Daimary to surrender

February 20: In a significant development, NDFB (R) Chief Ranjan Daimary was directed by the Gauhati High Court on Thursday to surrender before the expiry of his bail period. It needs mention here that Ranjan Daimary was granted interim bail by the High Court on 24 January, 2020 participating in the signing of the Bodo Peace Accord, which was signed on 27 January, 2020 in New Delhi.

As per reports, the Gauhati High Court has not extended the validity of Daimary’s bail and rather stated that he should surrender first before the court and then can appeal a new plea for his bail. The High Court will hear a fresh plea seeking hid bail on 25 February.

It is to be mentioned in this connection that in connection to the 2008 Assam serial blasts case, a special court pronounced life imprisonment to NDFB (R) Chief Ranjan Daimary on 30 January, 2019.
