Follow COVID protocols or postpone ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’: Govt to Rahul Gandi

Only vaccinated people participate in the Yatra: Union Health Minister

way2barak, Dec.21: Amid reports of surge in COVID-19 cases, especially in China and the USA, the Union Government has decided to take stringent measures beforehand to stop the spread of this deadly virus in India. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya wrote to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot asking them to ensure that COVID-19 guidelines are followed during ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’. Mandaviya further said that if following COVID protocol is not possible then the Yatra should be postponed in “national interest”.

The letter reads that COVID guidelines be strictly followed during Bharat Jodo Yatra & the use of masks-sanitizer be implemented. It further mentions that only vaccinated people participate in the Yatra.

Reacting to this, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said, “I haven’t seen the letter but what are the COVID protocols today? We don’t seem to be having any enforceable COVID protocols in any other public gatherings. Why this sudden attention to Bharat Jodo Yatra if not that it is rankling the BJP?

Reacting to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya’s letter asking Congress to follow COVID-19 protocols or postpone ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot said that no COVID-19 protocols were followed in PM Narendra Modi’s Tripura rally two days back. “If Union Health Minister has a valid concern and not a political aim, he should first write to PM.”
