DHE Assam suspends Principal of North Lakhimpur College

way2barak, Aug. 26: The Director of Higher Education in an order vide letter number DHE/CE/Mics/ 66/2022/0 dated 26 August placed North Lakhimpur College principal Dr. Biman Chandra Chetia under suspension. He was suspended after a purported “obscene” Facebook chat with a woman surfaced online.

AASU, TMPK, ABVP, NSUI, AJYP and others on Thursday staged sit-in protests in front of the college gate and also burnt the effigies of Chetia in North Lakhimpur and demanded his immediate arrest. Lakhimpur AASU has also sent a memorandum to the Education Minister of Assam demanding the immediate removal of Dr Chetia from the post of Principal of North Lakhimpur College wherein they also accused that the Principal of forging his academic documents on earlier occasions.
