Diphu Medical College approved by ICMR as a COVID-19 testing centre
June 9: As the number of novel coronavirus cases are on the upward surge in Assam, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has given its approval to Diphu Medical College as a COVID-19 testing centre. Sharing this information, State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “leased to share that Diphu Medical College has been accredited by @ICMRDELHI as testing lab for #COVID19. With this all of Assam’s 7 Medical Colleges have the capabilities & regulatory approvals for testing. This significantly strengthens our testing capacities.”

As of Tuesday evening, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Assam went upto 2937, out of which, 2145 were active cases. Till now, 5 persons have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in Assam and 784 patients were cured and discharged.
