Shakti Foundation Trust starts its journey with a vision of inclusive growth

Feb.3: Shakti Foundation as a new trust has started its journey for the overall development of the society with a vision to create positive change through empowerment. On Sunday, the new Foundation stepped out for the first time in presence of some notable luminaries of this valley. Renowned litterateur & journalist Atin Das adorned the chair of the Chief Guest, whereas eminent economist Prof. Niranjan Roy was the guest of honour. Suparna Dey, was present as the special guest of the programme.

No description available.The programme began with lightning of the lamp followed by an inaugural song. Floral tributes were offered by all in the photographs of Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The Convenor of the programme, Dr. Paromita Das in her inaugural speech highlighted the objective of the trust and laid emphasis on the point that this organisation will work for betterment of the society with an inclusive outlook following and upholding Indian culture and dignity.

No description available.The newly formed trust then felicitated four distinguished personalities of the valley who have set a milestone for others to follow. Atin Das was honoured for his contribution in the field of journalism. Mr. Atin Das was recognised by the government of Assam recently for his excellent works in the field of journalism. In that connection the programme organising committee expressed their gratitude to the Chief minister of Assam for giving due recognition of the talents from Barak Valley. Debanjan Mukherjee, Headmaster of Netaji Vidya Bhavan was felicitated for his contribution in the field of education and culture. Pradip Acharjee was felicitated for his contribution in the field of fine arts and Rupali Das, was honoured for her contribution in the field of women’s self defence.

In his speech, Atin Das highlighted the importance of nurturing Indian culture in this modern era and making youth realise about the dignity and worth of our tradition. Prof. Niranjan Roy has said that women are the treasure of our society and a society can’t prosper unless and until we give importance to women. So for the betterment of society both man and women should walk hand in hand. Suparna Dey has highlighted that service is the real religion of mankind .

Cultural items were then presented by Nivedita Sengupta, Dr. Joyashri Dey, Kabita Sengupta and Punam Dhar. The vote of thanks was delivered by Miton Biswas. The programme was compered by Dr. Joyashri Dey. The occasion came to an end with the singing of the national anthem.
