Corona: All schools & colleges in Tripura to remain shut till 31 March

March 16: In a bid to prevent a possible spread of Covid-19, the Tripura government has decided to close down all educational institutions and a list of identified public places including swimming pools, gymnasiums, cinema halls, Anganwadi centres from 17 March till 31 March, 2020. However, the Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations conducted by the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) would continue as scheduled.

Following the footsteps of the other states like including, Assam, Manipur, West Bengal and Meghalaya which have already announced to shutdown the educational institutes, Tripura Education and parliamentary affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Monday announced the closure of educational institutions in the state.

Chief Secretary of Tripura, Manoj Kumar on Monday said, “The first thing that has been done is to close down all schools, colleges, universities, swimming pools, gymnasiums and other centres from 17th till 31st. However, if exams are scheduled in schools, they will continue. Similarly, there are hostels attached to the schools, colleges. These hostels will have to be vacated by March 21 and they will remain closed till March 31. We have put some restrictions on people coming to old-age homes, jails etc.”
